Seashore Mission offers so many programs to help our neighbors in need. From our Free Store, which serves over 200 families, to our Food Pantry, to our classes for immigrant women, children and families, Seashore Mission’s impact is enormous. When you contribute to Seashore Mission’s building, you contribute to these families’ futures, as well as the needs of our homeless friends
When is a building not just a building?
When it offers shelter, hope, peace and refuge to those who have nowhere else to go.
Seashore Mission’s ministry with unsheltered individuals is a ministry of place, as well as programs. We provide a place of refuge for people whose only roof, only shower, only resting space is the one we provide. We offer restrooms; showers; a telephone; computers; clean clothes; food; worship and fellowship to those with no place else to go.
In 2013 alone, Seashore Mission served over 25,000 hot, hearty meals and provided thousands of showers and sets of clothes to these unsheltered neighbors.
And with our new building, we’ll be able to do so much more. Seashore Mission’s newly purchased building will make all of these ministries possible not just now, but will enable us to grow for years to come.
Seashore Mission, which has been renting since Hurricane Katrina, will make its future home on Division St. in Biloxi. But in fact, our “new” home is actually a very old building! It was formerly both Bankston’s Paint Store and, before that, the famous Sie Simon’s nightclub.
We went to work immediately renovating the building using volunteer labor, however, we are now ata point in the renovation process where we must raise funds for specific services and materials, including HVAC, plumbing, and kitchen appliances. Our most pressing need is for HVAC, which will cost approximately $15,000. Once that is installed, we will be able to complete framing for the office space and move our office operations to the new facility.
This building project can only come to fruition with the help of people like you. We will be adding offices, classrooms, bathrooms, laundry facilities and a kitchen to a building that has never before had them. We are depending on volunteers for the bulk of our renovations, and we need donors to make those renovations possible.
